2-5-26 THOUGHTS
As with David, many of us seem to be riding rough patches in the present tense. The word pictures used here are intense. He cries as he takes refuge in God! David “expects God to save him!” The imagery of “the shadow of Your wings” and “My soul is among lions; I must lie among those who breathe forth fire,” is most vivid. 2Sam 22:47 "The LORD lives, and blessed be my rock; And exalted be God, the rock of my salvation, Ps 94:22 “But the LORD has been my stronghold, And my God the rock of my refuge.”
Ps 57:1-5 Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me, For my soul takes refuge in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge Until destruction passes by. 2 I will cry to God Most High, To God who accomplishes all things for me. 3 He will send from heaven and save me; He reproaches him who tramples upon me. Selah. God will send forth His lovingkindness and His truth. 4 My soul is among lions; I must lie among those who breathe forth fire, Even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows And their tongue a sharp sword. 5 Be exalted above the heavens, O God; Let Your glory be above all the earth.
Our Prayer:
Be exalted above the heavens, O God; Let Your glory be above all the earth. Lord, there are many we know who struggle with significant health problems at this time. Be gracious to them, O God, as they flee to Your side to take refuge. You, O God, are the Potter and we are the clay.
Help us to be “happy clay”, for our faith rests in You, You, O Father, “who accomplishes all things for” us. We pray in our precious Lord, Amen.
